Champaign Paver Install

We recently renovated the landscaping at a residence in the Champaign area, and were very pleased with how it turned out! We love how the light-colored pavers contrast with the dark mulch (both from Country Arbors) to really make the bed pop!

Here are some tips to make sure you are getting the highest quality on your own paver border install!

1 – We almost always recommend that you set the pavers in a bed of mortar.

Setting your pavers in mortar will add years of longevity to your project. It does add some additional expense up front, but that added cost will pay dividends in the long run. Paver borders not set in mortar are extremely likely to be affected by our fickle Illinois climate and are unlikely to retain their shape and appearance more than a year. On the other hand, beds surrounded by pavers set in mortar by CP Lawn Service and Landscaping are sure to maintain their quality for years to come. Additionally, an adequate bed of mortar will serve as a barrier to any weeds that try to sprout up between the pavers.

2 – Be sure to dry fit your pavers to the desired shape before the final install.

This will ensure that you have the correct amount of pavers for the job and will give you an idea of what the final project will look like before it’s too late to change it. This way, you will have the flexibility to make any changes you decide on and will be more likely to achieve the look you were going for.

3 – Include a level of sand below the mortar.

An extra level of sand will provide some stability below the mortar and provide assurance that the paver border is sitting on a level foundation. In addition, the sand will serve as an additional layer of weed control to make sure the pavers look great.

At CP Lawn Service and Landscaping, Paver Borders are one of our favorite jobs to do because of the rewarding and lasting look that they provide to a backyard. Contact us soon to get your project on the schedule for this Spring, our slots are quickly filling up!
